At the rate they were going, Azure City would be in sight within a few hours. Elan was cheerfully practicing some agility techniques when he saw Julio walking towards him with what appeared to be a very large bottle of alcohol.
"Hey, Captain Scoundrel! Feeling 'ale and hearty?"
"Not bad, Elan. You've got a knack for this," Julio sat down, looking somewhat grim. "But this is serious business. Elan, what are you going to do when you land?"
Elan grinned before launching into what could only be a pre-rehearsed spiel. "I'm gonna rescue Haley and defeat Nale and then I'll see all my friends again and Roy will be happy since I'll be even more useful to the team and we'll save the world and beat Xykon and then Haley and I will get married and we'll all become famous and—"
"Okay, okay! I get it!" Julio appeared as if he had something to say, but didn't quite know how to say it. "Elan, you know how I am famous?"
"Yes? I want to be famous too."
"Thing is…Have you ever heard of fangirls?"
"You mean girls who are fans of you?"
"Well, that is one interpretation, but…" Julio sighed. "Elan, according to what you've told me…You've taken a Belt of Gender Changing for your own entertainment, you like to run around naked, you've got a natural 18 Charisma, and you sleep in the same room as four other guys."
Elan stared blankly at Julio. "…And?"
Julio sighed. For all Elan's wit and charm, the kid could be so dense. Any other slightly genre-savvy person would have seen what he was hinting at fifteen minutes ago. "Elan, what I'm trying to say is that the fangirls are going to have a field day with you. Like they did with me." He shuddered at the memory.
"…I don't follow."
Julio buried his head in his hands. "Great. Just great. Guess I'll have to show you then."
"Wait, Captain Scoundrel, what are you—"
Suffice to say that not even twelve bottles of 180-proof homebrewed whiskey could completely purge either of their memories.
